Description
Sand Eels – 5 ½ inch – 2 Pack
Sand eels are small eel-like fish that prefer sandy areas into which they burrow. Sand eels are important prey species for trout, redfish and flounder. Sand eels can be fished year round and work especially well during the colder months when most of the other bait fish, such as shrimp, crab, shad and mullet leave our bays. During the winter months, work the sand eel slow close to the bottom and bounce it along with short hops and twitches. Sand eel lures can be fished shallow or deep…fast or slow. Lures that mimic natural prey of sport fish are very productive. On a fast retrieve, jerk the lure 2 or 3 times and let the lure fall a couple of seconds, then continue retrieve in this manner. Vary your straight line retrieve and make your lure dart off in another direction with a little twitch. This will sometimes trigger a strike from fish that are following your lure.
